Western students & faculty filed into Old Main 340, and logged in at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom, on May 15 to speak out about the future of student-funded programs during the public comment portion of the Services and Activities (S&A) Fees Committee meeting.
It was less than five years ago that Western Washington University had an active chapter of the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), which boasts over 92,000 members in chapters throughout all 50 states, according to the Democratic Socialists of America website. At the beginning of 2021 though, the campus chapter abruptly ceased activity.
The Associated Students (AS) of Western Washington University held a luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 29, to discuss how students can participate in student government.
The Western Washington University Board of Trustees formally enacted the Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing (ACSRI) during their Oct. 18 meeting.
Western Academic Workers United is voting to establish its inaugural executive board. All 20 positions on the board will hold equal powers of administration, which include president, vice president, sergeant at arms and recording secretary, among others.
In February, a new Western Washington University Associated Students Charter was signed for the first time since 2010. The charter was signed by Western President Sabah Randhawa, Associated Students President Keara Ryan and Senate President Gabe Wong, and enabled a change in the AS Constitution, which was approved last spring and entered into effect at the beginning of the school year.

Malachi Phillips won the AS President election out of the three candidates for the role. In his campaign, he discussed the issues of food insecurity, mental health and disability access at Western Washington University.
