Malachi Phillips won the AS President election out of the three candidates for the role. In his campaign, he discussed the issues of food insecurity, mental health and disability access at Western Washington University.
After writing grant proposals in a marketing class, two Western students were able to open a closet for free, used clothing. The closet also has a basic needs department, which provides new socks and underwear.
Continuous cracking and water leakage called for Western Washington University to address the deferred maintenance of Fisher Fountain.
Bellingham will have its first contemporary style longhouse in summer of 2025.
Earth Week returns another year. After budget cuts and a change of organizers this year offers something new. Club and organization-led events mean there is a wide variety with something for everyone.
Swipe Out Hunger, a national program to help students on campus dealing with food insecurity, is not returning to Western. The program was suspended in the fall when Western switched dining hall providers.
