Veterans Day from their perspective

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, marked the end of World War I. Armistice Day was created with the hope that one day there would be no more war. Our country has since fought in numerous conflicts and now we call it Veterans Day.

Save the date, donate a plate

The Western Community Outreach club is feeding those in need during the quarterly Be Our Guest event on Dec. 8. A gesture such as this may be familiar to most through the classic Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast,” and helping the less fortunate is a tale as old as time.

Out of this world

Western students were given the chance to hold rocks from the surface of the moon in their hands. Geology professor Ben Paulson wrote a letter to NASA requesting lunar samples, and they were delivered to Western.

Shooting for a strong season

Both of Western’s basketball teams are preparing for back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II playoffs coming off of strong 2016-17 seasons. The men’s team is chasing its second consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship, while the women’s team is going for its 17th NCAA playoff appearance under head coach Carmen Dolfo.

Wilson Library contains the works of authors, poets and intellectuals from the past. What most don’t know is that these texts aren’t the only thing haunting the building, but the ghost of the first librarian, Mabel Zoe Wilson.
