Viking Voices showcases student opinions on different issues by asking them different questions. This week we asked students: “What do you think about Washington increasing
the smoking age to 21?"
Nathan Muir, senior & business management and sustainability major
“I am from Canada and the age there is 19, I thought 19 was appropriate you’re out of high school and are regarded as an adult. I think 21 might be a little high."
Claire Forsberg, sophomore and business management major
“I think it's good in that it encourages younger students to not smoke. I also think there are so many young people smoking it might also encourage the illegal purchase of tobacco.”
Emily Boyle, freshman and archeology major
“I am not personally a smoker I think that raising the age to 21 will be benefit everybody in their health. I think it's a really good idea it's easier to pass for 18 then 21 for little kids.”
Joey Wiltse, junior and political science major
“I think it's a good idea, I personally smoke cigarettes I am kind of biased but in my opinion I think no one really should."
