When the clock expired on the Seattle Seahawks’ 27-31 NFC Championship victory over the Los Angeles Rams on the evening of Jan. 25, 2026, it wasn’t just to the delight of the uproarious home crowd affectionately known as the “12s.” In sports bars and living rooms across the country, Seattle fans raised their arms in relief and rejoiced. The state of Washington itself seemed to celebrate the advancement of its team to the biggest stage in American sports: Super Bowl LX, facing off against the New England Patriots.
“It was a great atmosphere and a lot of fun,” said Western Washington University student Isabella Guerra, who was in attendance to witness her team’s victory at Lumen Field. “It was a really cool experience.”
It’s been over a decade since the Seahawks reached the Super Bowl, and Bellingham is buzzing. The Herald building’s iconic sign downtown flashes in green and blue, WTA bus displays read “go hawks” alongside the bus route and Ferndale has officially been renamed to “Hawkdale,” at least until the conclusion of the big game on Feb. 8.
So, where can Western students and Bellingham residents (Seahawks fans or not) go to enjoy the Super Bowl together this Sunday? We’ve compiled a non-exhaustive list of your options.
The Underground Coffeehouse
Viking Union, 3 p.m.
For Western students not of drinking age or just seeking the convenience of an on-campus watch party, The Underground Coffeehouse is the place to be. The WWU news website advertises “exclusive game day snacks and special beverages,” as well as free popcorn with any additional purchase.
“We are choosing the Underground Coffeehouse to host this event to shed light on this great cozy location,” said Dining at WWU marketing intern Buzz Westhusing. “It’s set up well to hang in, as well as the wonderful coffee bar.”
The event will also see the debut of snow cones for sale at the Underground Coffeehouse, Westhusing said.
Aslan Depot (21+)
1322 N. State St., Bellingham, WA, 3 p.m.
Aslan Depot will host its annual Super Bowl party in the heart of downtown Bellingham. The event space will serve pizza, wings and have specials on drinks, all while showing the game on the big screen.
Beach Cat Brewing
1010 C St., Bellingham, WA, 3 p.m.
Down by the bay, Beach Cat Brewing boasts four new 85-inch TVs and a barbecue food truck to bolster their football viewing experience. An all-ages establishment, Beach Cat has something for everyone.
Kulshan Brewing Company, Roosevelt Taproom (21+)
1538 Kentucky St, Bellingham, WA
Kulshan Brewing Company is hosting a Super Bowl party complete with an all-day happy hour, food from El Pollo Feo food truck and a variety of raffle drawings throughout the game. It is not accessible to those under 21.
While going out for the game is a must for some fans, most Americans will tune in from the comfort of their homes or head over to a friends’. According to recent data from a National Retail Federation study, over 121 million people plan to attend a Super Bowl party or throw one of their own, compared to just 18.2 million watching from a restaurant or bar. Many Bellinghamsters are no different.
“We’re going to watch it at my house,” Guerra said. “We’re going to have a bunch of our friends over and have a big watch party.”
For those opting to go this route, you have a few viewing options at your disposal. NBC and NFL Network will show the game live for broadcast TV and cable viewers, while it will be available to stream on Peacock, NFL+ and ESPN, among others.
Super Bowl LX will kick off Feb. 8 at 3:30 p.m. in Santa Clara, California.
