Compass 2 Campus, an award-winning mentor program, said goodbye to retiring Executive Director Cyndie Shepard in June and welcomed Anselmo Villanueva to Western.
Friends, family and community members gathered in the Mary Queen of Peace Church in Sammamish on Saturday, June 18 to attend the funeral service of Western sophomore Trevor D’Mello.
The SEA, or Science, Education and Aquarium Discovery Center, was christened after Western acquired the Poulsbo Marine Center from the city on May 24.
Western’s C lots are currently undergoing construction this summer to eliminate dust and make campus more eco-friendly. The project is led by Granite Construction and is expected to continue until the end of July.
“This was just a way for Bruce and Cyndie to say thank you to the campus community for their eight years here,” Mark Bagley, senior director of stewardship and special events said. Bagley said an invitation to the ice cream social was sent to everyone who works at Western.
Whatcom Transportation Authority is proposing to shrink the bus routes serving Western students to only one route — Route 190.
